Judge Nancy Arnold

Judge Nancy Arnold  serves in the Chancery Division of the Circuit Court, in the Richard J. Daley Center
courthouse.  Judges in the Chancery Division hear a wide but distinctive variety of civil cases.  These include
commercial disputes involving real estate and other ventures, partnership and corporate dissolution, cases seeking
declaration of contract rights (including insurance coverage cases), cases seeking injunctive relief (including relief
against local governments), class          actions, and shareholder derivative suits.  The Chancery Division also serves
as a first court of review from a variety of administrative bodies.

Judge Arnold has served in the Chancery Division for ten years and enjoys it very much.  She has been a judge of
the circuit court for thirteen years, having first been appointed by the Supreme Court, on motion by former Chief
Justice Mary Ann McMorrow, who was the first woman to serve on the Illinois Supreme Court and its first female Chief
Justice.  Judge Arnold is very proud to be a McMorrow appointee.   Judge Arnold was elected to a term of six years in
1998 and retained in 2004.

Prior to joining the bench, Judge Arnold practiced law in the field of civil litigation for twenty years, primarily before
the appellate courts.  During her legal career she has participated as a speaker in several seminar presentations,
most recently at the biannual Judicial Education Conference, and has authored many legal articles.  She has been
very active in the Appellate Lawyers Association, where she served as President in 1990-1991.

Judge Arnold would appreciate the support of her fellow citizens, so that she may continue in the work she loves,
and in this life of public service.
