| Judge Michelle Jordan Judge Michelle Jordan has over 32 years of legal experience and has been a judge since 2004. She has previously been found qualified by all bar associations. Legal Experience: Prior to becoming a judge, Judge Michelle Jordan worked as an Assistant State’s Attorney, served as Chief of the Environmental Control Division in the Illinois Attorney General’s Office. She was a partner in a large downtown law firm when President Clinton appointed her Deputy Regional Administrator of Region Five of the United States Environmental Protection Agency. Judge Jordan also served as a federal prosecutor at the Department of Justice where she prosecuted both civil and criminal cases. Judicial Experience: Judge Jordan was elected a full circuit court judge in 2004. Her initial assignment was in the First Municipal District handing traffic, criminal and civil matters. She also served in the Child Protection Division of Juvenile Court hearing abuse and neglect cases. In 2005, she returned to the First Municipal District where she currently hears felony preliminary hearing cases. Outside activities: Judge Jordan has lectured extensively on civil and criminal environmental matters and taught trial practice classes for the Chicago Bar Association, Northwestern University Law School, and John Marshall Law School. Judge Jordan has taught introductory and advanced political science classes at Chicago State University, and has published numerous articles. Education: Judge Jordan graduated from South Shore High School. She received her B.A. Magna Cum Laude from Loyola University when she was 19 years of age. In 1977, she received her law degree from the University of Michigan Law School. Memberships: Judge Jordan previously served on the Board of Managers of the Chicago Bar Association, was a member of the Judicial Evaluation Committee, and served as the Chair of the Young Lawyer’s Section Criminal Law Committee of the Chicago Bar Association.
