Judge Gerald C. Bender

Legal Experience:  Judge Bender practiced law for twenty-five (25) years.  
He litigated in hundreds of adversarial proceedings, including federal,
state, civil, criminal, bench and jury trials.  His practice included without
limitation the following areas of law:  chancery, torts, contracts,
domestic relations, criminal, juvenile, civil rights, employment, adoption,
corporate, and real estate law.

Judicial Experience:  Judge Bender was first elected to the bench in
November of 1996 when he was assigned to the Domestic Relations Division.  
He now maintains an individual calendar call.

Awards:  2008 Seymour Simon Award, Jewish Judges Association of Illinois; 2006 Outstanding Alumni,
American Association of Community Colleges; 2005, Distinguished Alumnus Award, Illinois Community

Family:  Judge Bender has three children and six grandchildren.

Community Service:  Elected Trustee, Village of Lincolnwood; Executive Board Member, Holocaust
Memorial Foundation of Illinois; Co-Founder, Jewish Judge’s Association of Illinois; Personal Attorney
to Simon Wiesenthal for twenty (20) years.

Hobbies:  The arts, reading, fishing and dancing.
