Justice Margaret Stanton McBride

Justice Margaret Stanton McBride was elected to the Illinois Appellate Court, First District, in November
1998.  She is currently assigned to the Sixth Division as Presiding Justice.  She has also served as a
member of the Executive Committee of the Illinois Appellate Court, First District and has served as a
Presiding Justice in the First and Second Divisions.

Prior to becoming a member of the Appellate Court, Judge McBride was a Circuit Court judge.  She was first
appointed an Associate Judge in 1987 and was elected to the Circuit Court of Cook County in 1990.  She
was assigned to various divisions within the court including, First Municipal, Criminal, Law Jury, and
Chancery.  In 1996, Judge McBride was named the Presiding Judge of the Third Municipal District of the
Circuit Court of Cook County located in Rolling Meadows, Illinois.                                                

Upon graduation from DePaul Law School in 1976, Judge McBride worked as an associate with a small civil
law firm, and was employed as a Cook County Assistant State's Attorney from 1977 until her appointment to
the bench in 1987.

She lives in Cook County with her husband and 2 children.
